Rock show in Shenzhen On January 10, the city’s most talented up-and-coming bands with gather at China Folk Cultural Village for an epic rock show. Straight to the point, it is presented by Rock 'N Soul music organization and simply titled the Rock Show. From funk to post rock, indie and cute punk, the event will play host to the satisfaction of a variety of rock music fans. The bands are made up from an international diverse range of expats and Chinese musicians. There also will live hip hop acts, and the event with be hosted by DJ Sam LoveTron. The lineup features Pokemon Dad, Choked Zone, Friendly Cannons, Dragon Turtle and Mighty Orphans. Pokeman Dad is an indie rock act that rocks hard. Full of rich lyrics with dark yet comical statements about the human condition, the band is influenced by Radiohead, Kings of Leon and Grizzly Bear. Choked Zone is the only all-Chinese band of the show. The bandmates have played in major cities all over China, performing music similar in style to American Football, Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai. Friendly Cannons are modern punk rockers with a musical sound inspired by The Clash, The Moldy Peaches and Rubble Bucket. Dragon Turtle comes all the way from Chicago in the United States to play the latest grooves, and sound like Phish meets James Brown meets The Talking Heads. Mighty Orphans will bring in live hip hop with their catchy and original beats. The duo take their inspiration from Blackalicious, Atmosphere and Macklemore. There’s something for everyone at the Rock Show, and all cool Shenzheners are sure to be there!
