Wayne Dillon has enjoyed a long and successful career in Manufacturing, Distribution,
Sales, Marketing, and Brand Management. Originally involved in the Marine Industry
and
later the Pumping and Lighting market his expertise has encompassed almost
every facet of business.
Wayne commenced sailing at an early age going on to win National Titles and
representing New Zealand in small yachts. As a result his career in the boating
industry
began and he spent several years in this field. Wayne gained an in
-
depth knowledge of
the industry and managed and then owned one of the largest Manufacturers,
Distributors, and Retailers of marine equipment in the New Zealand market. His
innovati
ve flair for product design resulted in the manufacture of many of his products
for use on high performance yachts. He was one of the first in the industry to introduce
"high tech" plastics for the manufacture of yachting equipment.
In a career change Wayn
e joined the “corporate world” and was an executive in two
organizations operating in the retail market in New Zealand. The first was
Briscoe
Group a New Zealand retail chain. They have 90 stores throughout New Zealand
trading under the Briscoe’s Homeware,
Living & Giving, and Rebel Sport nameplates.
Second was Korbond Group who has a branded range of sewing accessories,
haberdashery, and hair products that are sold in every supermarket, pharmacy, and
local store in New Zealand. Wayne was hired specifically
to launch Hozelock Products
,
a UK range of Garden Tools
. Some years later
Hozelock was acquired by Fiskars U.S.A
and the range was extended into kitchen and stationery in particular knives and
scissors.
In 1989
Korbond Group was restructured and Wayne j
oined one of the previous owners
White International, an Australasian distribution company
importing and marketing
industrial
and hardware products. Initially engaged as the New Zealand Business
Manager, his superi
or sales,
marketing
and management skills
led to a major
promotion, being appointed a
Director
of the group
.
As a senior executive
Wayne
introduced many brands and products that are now market leaders in Australia and New
Zealand. For many years he was responsible for sourcing and overseeing prod
uction for
products manufactured in Asia. During his time manufacturing pumps he became
involved in introduced a revolutionary system for pumping milk on New Zealand dairy
farms.
In 2006 Wayne established his own Company in Asia and New Zealand that specia
lized
in the import and distribution of Garden products, Pumps & Accessories, Valves, and
Commerci
al & Marine Lighting and
export from New Zealand to Asia.
In business... Vast experience in General Management especially Sales and Marketing,
Innovation &
Design concepts, brand development & management, a brilliant mind,
definitely a “thinker outside the square”!
In sport... has reached the top level in yachting, holder of many National Titles and
represented New Zealand on numerous occasions. Even in late
r years was successful
in Triathlons winning a National Team event in New Zealand.
In
teaching
I have been involved in teaching online mainly to older students. Subjects
for example
included
healthy living, specifically health supplements, and wine select
ion,
terms and the “do & don’ts of drinking wine.
I see myself as a
coach across a large
number of subject matter.
